Major contract won with P&H Snacksdirect

Snacksdirect - one of the largest direct van sales operations dedicated to snack foods in the country, operating from a national network of depots servicing the whole of the UK, places order for new van sales system.

Snacksdirect selects BelTek Van Sales System
P&H Snacksdirect Limited, one of the largest direct van sales operations dedicated to snack foods in the country, has commenced the rollout of the BelTek van sales and route accounting system over its 100+ vehicles. The new system will handle all of P&H Snackdirect’s mobile sales activity as well as collecting and storing ePOD’s, managing van stocks and collecting and reporting on vehicle usage statistics. This is the latest major investment by P&H Snacksdirect in their strategy to remain at the forefront of customer service to the UK retailing and catering sectors.
As a subsidiary of Palmer & Harvey McLane, P&H Snacksdirect operates from a national network of depots and services the whole of the UK, carrying a wide range of market leading crisp and snack products, including the KP, Golden Wonder, Walkers and McVitie's ranges. With daily deliveries from manufacturers, P&H Snacksdirect make sure that their customers’ stock is always as fresh as possible.
Proudly announcing this major initiative, David Marsdon, MD of P&H Snacksdirect, stated: “We have no intention of ever standing still in terms of customer service delivery and we are always looking for new ways to drive the business forward. Snacksdirect is one of the longest standing and most knowledgeable users of mobile sales technology in the UK, so we know it is key to our ongoing success that we have the best van sales system on the market. Well now we will have, with the BelTek implementation.”
Duncan Spence, Financial Controller of Snacksdirect, who led the selection team that awarded the contract to BelTek’s European reseller, Mobile Enterprise Systems Limited, commented: “Our people have been using handheld technology for 15 years, so we knew what to look for when seeking a new system. But even so, the high level of functionality that the BelTek system offers surprised us. So many functions that we thought were ‘blue sky thinking’ turned out to be standard features of the product.”
Looking forward to rolling the system out, Spence continued: “There were some core issues that differentiated the BelTek system from all its competitors. Most obviously, it is a system designed to cope with our size of operation. This shows in the integrity of the communication management, the huge range of ‘features and options’ in the server software - and we can’t wait to show our customers the flexibility of the software on the handheld! The PocketPC operating system on the handheld makes the BelTek system easy to learn and a good investment for the years ahead.”
Kieran Graham and Jack Sane, directors of Mobile Enterprise Systems, were understandably elated at winning such a prestige contract. “The P&H Snacksdirect team put us and the system through our paces throughout the bid. We are very proud of how the BelTek system answered all the functional questions thrown at it,” says Graham, while Sane adds: “And we are equally proud to be a key partner of P&H Snacksdirect, helping them as they take their already excellent standard of customer service on to the next level using the BelTek system.”
