Deja Vu All Over Again For P&H
Launching its P&H Sweetdirect business, Palmer & Harvey is repeating a winning formula by 
modelling it closely on the highly successful P&H Snacksdirect, the largest direct to door van sales operation of its kind in the UK. A key component of the Snacksdirect success has been its aggressive use of handheld technology to manage its direct salesforce, or as Jim Newsome, Chief Executive of both businesses puts it: “Our handheld system has been a great success for us, it drives our promotions, manages our transactions and salesforce and provides us with invaluable management information. If you add the expert support we receive from our vendor, Mobile Enterprise Systems, it was a ‘no brainer’ that we would say ‘same again’ when choosing a management system for the new business.”

The system will be rolled out to the 100 strong Sweetdirect fleet using Intermec CN3E handheld computers and O’Neil Microflash 4T mobile printers. The Intermec handhelds were chosen for their market leading ruggedness and friendly keyboard layout, — which is designed specifically for mobile data capture.

The Sweetdirect business is launching a sales fleet of 100 vehicles on a nationwide basis, selling some of the leading UK confectionery brands. It will be a stand-alone business in its own right but with the advantage of sharing the nationwide infrastructure of the Palmer and Harvey Group and the senior management of P&H Snacksdirect.
